THERE was a powerful effort from Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club runners at the prestigious Saucony English National Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
The occasion represents B&R’s cup ultimate of operating and was held at Parliament Hill in Hampstead Heath Park, London.
Three B&R athletes secured prime 100 locations on an outstanding course as Sally Hogan was 100th on the 8km women’ course, Beth Sykes 68th within the U17 women’s competitors over 5km and Natalie Hatfield 46th within the U15 women’ race over 4km.
The males’s race over 12km was gained by Adam Hickey of Southend. Leading B&R house in 662nd was Mark Appleton, forward of team-mates Andrew Freeman (857th), Matthew Henney (1,564th) and Phil Anderson (2,134) as 2,328 completed the course.
Redditch runner Joe Smith, representing Tipton Harriers, had focused a prime 100 end and didn’t disappoint as he ran an outstanding race and improved from final yr’s 107th place to finish 84th.
Phoebe Law of Kingston AC & Polytechnic Harriers gained the women’ race. With Hogan 100th, the opposite B&R women in motion have been Tamara Freeman (261st) and Charlotte Ball (926th) as 1,113 completed.
